I wanted to thank you for making this trip possible for us, especially those like me who are not Nebraska natives, come from large urban areas and are excited to know more about agriculture. Given my research background and teaching interests the trip has proven very useful.
It was well worth the time ….stretching me in many ways: new people, new ideas, new places. N W E S
As chairman of the IANR Liaison Committee, I urge you to enjoy the fellowship of meeting others who are new to the University system. I was able to attend last year. Not only do I now understand how all of the out-state facilities interact with IANR, I met many amazing people with whom I can collaborate. It was truly an outstanding, enjoyable experience.
Among many other benefits, it was a great opportunity to meet, and get to know, IANR administrators. The fact that Vice Chancellor Mike Boehm traveled with us for three days to help us learn and get acclimated to Nebraska speaks volumes about his leadership, and reaffirms my decision to make IANR and Nebraska my new home.
I was on the fence about taking time out of my busy schedule to attend this trip. WOW! I am extremely thankful I took the time. I not only learned volumes about Nebraska, but also IANR and the amazing research being conducted across the state. I always knew that IANR expanded past the east campus boarders, but until you go out and witness it for yourself, it’s hard to truly conceptualize this fact. Thanks for making this trip possible!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the tour only for new faculty?
A: We give priority to faculty who have been at IANR for under three years and who have never previously attended.

Q: How will transportation work?
A: We will be chartering a tour bus. We will be departing from, and returning to, East Campus in Lincoln. You must have a UNL parking permit to park on campus.

Q: What is appropriate attire?
A: Dress casually. Some of the tour stops will involve walking outdoors, so be prepared for Nebraska weather. You may want to bring a light jacket, hat, and umbrella.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: The IANR Roads Scholar Tour is hosted and sponsored by the IANR Vice Chancellor's office. All expenses will be paid for, including transportation, hotel and meals. Any additional expenses (extra food, activities outside of the tour schedule, incidental expenses) will be paid by the participants.

Q: Can you accommodate special dietary requests?
A: Yes. We always do our best, working with local caterers and food service providers, to accommodate special requests.
