Brief Listserv User Instructions
Last revised April 4, 2002

The following examples are for a listserv named   NAMEOFLIST    Be sure to substitute the name of the listserv you are working with in place of NAMEOFLIST

You send commands to subscribe, unsubscribe and set subscription options to Listserv (which is a machine, not a human) at:

LISTSERV@UNL.EDU

To send information to the members (people) of the list, address e-mail to:

NAMEOFLIST@UNL.EDU

To send information to owner of the list, when you don't know who they are, address e-mail to:

NAMEOFLIST-REQUEST@UNL.EDU
SUBSCRIBE
Send an e-mail message to:
LISTSERV@UNL.EDU
In the Message Field (NOT Subject):
SUBSCRIBE NAMEOFLIST firstname lastname

The items above are case insensitive. You can join as many listservs as you like with a single e-mail note, but only one subscribe or unsubscribe command per line.

Example:

subscribe nameoflist John Doe
subscribe nameoflist2 John Doe
unsubscribe nameoflist3

NOTE: Do not include signature block, as Listserv will try to interpret each line as a command.

LISTSERV@UNL.EDU

NOTE: Do not include signature block, as Listserv will try to interpret each line as a command.
