Map of North Platte River Basin

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation operates five major reservoirs and six powerplants on the North Platte River. Enough water is stored to irrigate 400,000 acres of productive farmland. The value of crops grown each year exceeds the total original construction cost of $132 million. The benefits of Reclamation's programs have improved the lives of residents of the West through power production, flood control, irrigation, and recreation opportunities.
