Health Care in Transition
1998 Update
Vision:
The Health Care in Transition Action Team will provide strong leadership for Cooperative Extension to become heavily involved in this
new area of work.
- Mission:
- Nebraskans will become more knowledgeable about changes in health care as well as the issues and implications associated with
these changes for consumers and communities.
- Focus: Managed Care, Access to Care, Role of Insurance, Consumer Knowledge of Health Care Plans.
- Each team member will:
- 1. Generate a menu of creative programmatic activities and opportunities for other Extension faculty to consider, encouraging and supporting colleagues in implementing/delivering such programs and
- 2. Serve as role models and risk takers for other Extension faculty by implementing or delivering selected programs in our respective locales (EPUs, Districts, etc.)
- Objectives:
- 1. Create and further resource list to support HCIT Plan.
- a. NebFacts and NebGuides
- b. News releases and columns; Extension Educator, Communipak, etc.
- c. Community/Study lesson in 1999 (To Your Health: What's Lurking in Your Family Tree?)
- 2. Critical Issues in Health Care newsletter maintained with UNMC partners.
- 3. Continue support of Insurance Purchasing Project now funded outside of Extension
- 4. Expand Community Health Partners efforts.
- 5. Address health policy issues as they arise
- 6. Forge partnerships with

- b. Agencies & associations
