elcome to the Quiz Factory,
where you can create quizzes to help visitors to your web pages test their
knowledge of any subject matter.
Quizzes "manufactured" through the Factory require no server program calls to work -- you can even run them off of a flash drive or CD with no Internet connection! The only requirement is that the user have a web browser.
The Quiz Factory is a great tool for making informal, self-test type quizzes. Please note that no grades are recorded, and someone could
"cheat" by looking at the document source code, if they wanted to. For more controlled web-based testing, you may want to visit
IANR's DEAL Lab for available options.
Example Quizzes
Here are a few examples created with the Quiz Factory:
How do I make a quiz?
To make a quiz, just follow these steps:
- Choose a 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 question quiz from the choices that follow.
- Choose what background color and font type you want on the quiz.
- Choose whether or not you'd like to have answer buttons on the quiz. When a user
clicks on the answer button, he or she will see the answer and any explanation
that you type in the explanation area. Answers are only available after a quiz
is graded.
- For each question, indicate the question type (multiple choice, true/false, or short answer).
- You can click on the "Help" buttons for more tips.
- When you've filled out all the question information, click on the "Generate Quiz" button.
- Your finished quiz appears! Click on the File menu, and choose "Save as" to save the quiz.
- Give it a name with an HTM or HTML file extension (for example, "MyQuiz.htm").
- You may wish to "take the quiz" yourself to make sure everything works as expected.
If you see a mistake, click on your browser's BACK button, make the correction,
and repeat steps 5 - 7.
- You can customize the HTML source as much as you like, but you should definitely
make backup copies before changing anything.
It is very important that you save your quiz as noted above, because it will "disappear"
when you close your browser. You can't bookmark the generated quiz (quizgen_v1.cgi) and
retrieve it later - it must be saved as an .HTM or .HTML file first. You can place the
HTM/HTML file on whatever server you wish, or even distribute on a flash drive or CD.
If this is your first visit to the Quiz Factory, we recommend you start with a five question quiz,
to make sure you have the hang of it before inputting a large number of questions.
Select the number of questions you want in the quiz:

How to edit questions, change colors, add backgrounds, etc.
