ACTIVITY AREA USE POLICY FOR
THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-ARDC

University-sponsored meetings in this policy shall include all University of Nebraska activities and University of Nebraska Saunders County Cooperative Extension activities. Groups and organizations using the facility shall be referred to as "Users" in the policy statement. Activity areas include meeting rooms and other indoor and outdoor areas where meetings or group gatherings may take place.

  1. Activity areas on the ARDC may be used by outside entities with University of Nebraska affiliations. This use of the facility must be authorized by the ARDC Director consistent with University of Nebraska policy. Any such use must not interfere with the ongoing educational or research programs of the University.

  2. State and local agencies or sub-divisions of government may use the activity areas on a first-come basis during normal working hours at the discretion of the ARDC Director. Activity areas may not be scheduled more than 30 days in advance without a written request approved by the ARDC Director.

  3. University-sponsored events have first priority use of the activity areas.

  4. Activities may be held after normal working hours if University of Nebraska employees will be present. If University of Nebraska employees will not be present, activities may be held with approval of the ARDC Director. Activities must coincide with the schedule of the ARDC night security personnel.

  5. Users may serve coffee and non-alcoholic beverages with light snacks at activities. Catered meals may be served by a vendor authorized to serve meals at University of Nebraska functions with approval by the ARDC Director.

  6. Alcoholic beverages may only be served as per University of Nebraska policy and with the written permission of the ARDC Director, ARD Dean and Director, and the IANR Vice Chancellor. Thirty (30) days prior notice is required to obtain the necessary approval.

  7. Use of the activity areas shall be confined to lobby area, activity area being used, and public rest rooms.

  8. Groups and organizations using the activity areas are required to place all refuse in the provided trash containers.

  9. Chairs and tables in the activity areas may be moved by the User to facilitate the User's program provided the chairs and tables are returned to their original position.

  10. Repair or replacement of damage to the premises or breakage of equipment will be the responsibility of the User. Neither the University of Nebraska nor Saunders County is responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen property.

  11. All youth groups must have adult (over 21) supervision present.

  12. Scheduling of an activity by the User shall constitute agreement by the User to all terms and conditions confined in this policy. Failure to adhere to this policy shall result in termination of use of the activity areas.

  13. Smoking is not permitted in any University of Nebraska facility. No alcoholic beverages (see #7) or illegal or controlled substances are permitted.

  14. The User agrees to hold the University of Nebraska and Saunders County harmless from any claim or demand arising out of use of the building by the organization or any claim or demand by any persons upon the premises by reason of the activity of or by invitation of such organization and do agree to repay and reimburse the University of Nebraska and Saunders County for any legal expense incurred by the same in defending any such claim.

  15. Users of University of Nebraska activity areas must provide information and program services to all people without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.
