  Subject:   No Smoking Policy

As a follow-up of action taken at the November 16, 1987, IANR Vice Chancellor's Council Meeting, effective immediately, we are endorsing a "No Smoking" policy for all meetings sponsored by the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. I would appreciate your discussing this recommendation with your faculty and staff and encouraging them to implement the policy in a low key, deliberate manner.

My suggestion would be to request individuals who are arranging the meetings to request that ash trays not be displayed and to display a "Thank you for not smoking" poster in a prominent place in the meeting room.

By copy of this memorandum, I am asking Dr. Gary Vacin to assume leadership for developing some "No Smoking" posters and table signs that can be utilized by our faculty and staff, as appropriate. If you have some samples that you would like to share with Dr. Vacin, please provide him with your suggestions immediately.

If you have any suggestions as to how we can assist you in implementing this policy more conveniently, please feel free to share your ideas with us.
