IANR GUIDELINES FOR REIMBURSING
INTERVIEW EXPENSES FOR FACULTY
October 8, 1990
This continues the general policy for the reimbursement of interview expenses for candidates for the new faculty
1 of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The intent is that units be reasonable in the expenditure of resources for interviewing. Other expenses will be covered only when special permission is obtained from the appropriate dean/director.
Reimbursable expenses include 2:
- Transportation to and from Lincoln. If the candidate travels by air and his/her spouse accompanies him/her, travel for the spouse will not be covered. If the candidate travels by car, meals will not be covered for the spouse. Candidates for the positions at the Research and Extension Centers will be provided transportation to the appropriate Center location.
- Room and meals for candidate. All room and meal expenses will be covered for the candidate for up to three nights lodging. A double room will be covered if the spouse attends, however no meals for the spouse will be included.
- A breakfast and/or luncheon with search committee members and department head at the Nebraska Center or East Campus Union will be covered.
- Out-of-pocket expenses; such as, in-town transportation or parking fees, will also be included.
- All costs will be charged to a unit company/center and will be reimbursed on a prorated basis by the deans.
Additional expenses that will be covered for interviewing department heads, assistant and associate deans, deans or directors include:
- Transportation for a spouse.
- Meals for a spouse.
- Luncheon and/or dinners for spouses.
- An additional trip to Lincoln for house hunting for candidate and spouse.
Notes:
1 Faculty are defined as individuals with the rank of assistant, associate and full professor; extension instructor, assistant, associate and extension home economist or agriculturist; and instructor forester, associate forester and forester.
