Compensatory Time

This communicates a change in Agricultural Worker policy and requests your assistance in communicating that change to impacted employees in your administrative unit. Without a thorough explanation, an employee could become extremely concerned about their compensation and misinterpret its impact.

Attached below please find revised copies of the IANR Research and Agriculture Worker policy and IANR Compensatory Time policy. After gathering feedback from representatives of all units impacted by these policies, both have been updated effective July 1, 2008.

The Research and Agriculture Worker policy defines all hourly paid positions in the Research and Agriculture family as Agriculture Workers and converts them to a standard 40 hour work week for leave benefit and overtime purposes. These changes bring IANR agriculture workers in alignment with the current Board of Regents approved leave benefit plan and also treats them consistently with other IANR hourly employees.

The Compensatory Time policy establishes the payout of existing comp time balances for all IANR hourly paid employes effective March 31 of each year. It also defines the maximum compensatory time accumulation thresholds for IANR hourly paid positions.

Please work with your business manager to develop methods for notifying affected employees and managing the impacts of this implementation within your unit. Questions may be directed to the IANR Finance & Personnel office at financeandpersonnel@unlnotes.unl.edu. Your assistance is critical to effective employee communications. Thank you.
