Steve's T-shirt Says It All!

Yes, Grand Island, Nebraska, area farmer Steve Quandt was Bom to Farm. Steve is paralyzed from the waist down as a result of Guillain Barre syndrome.

This picture was taken on the day Steve received his Life Essentials pickup flatbed lift that will give him access to several tractors, a windrower, pickup, combine, and his utility vehicle. The remote control around his neck operates this specialized lift that will allow Steve to return to his implements and his chosen profession of farming.
A combined project of State of Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Nebraska AgrAbility/UNL Extension, this is the first lift of its kind to be placed in Nebraska. Steve trains with Life Essentials engineer Hubert Von Holten.

Serving the Needs of Nebraska's Farm and Ranch Families Affected by Disabilities.

Since 1995 Nebraska AgrAbility has helped individuals with disabilities overcome barriers to continue in their chosen agricultural profession. The program collaborates with community professionals to:

• Modify farm and ranch operations
• Adapt equipment
• Increase farmstead accessibility
• Provide financial counseling
• Identify funding sources
• Coordinate community services.

The National AgrAbility Project and its state programs are supported by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through a competitive grant process.
